The Town Council is responsible for:

Of the 15 issues, the Town Council has direct responsibility for –

Grass cutting:

The Town Council uses a contractor to maintain some grass areas around Amesbury, the cemetery, the churchyard, play parks and Lords Walk. Other areas are maintained by Wiltshire Council, private owners, housing associations.


Trees and bushes:

As above, the Town Council has responsibility for some trees and bushes.



The Town Caretaker is contracted to clear:
Play parks Lords Walk There is a street cleaning scheme for estates and side roads, where local organisations receive a grant from the Town Council for clearing litter from housing estates and side roads. Litter is cleared from the town centre by Wiltshire Council, as are the major routes through town.



With the recent spate of graffiti around the town (12-18 months ago), the Town Council agreed to pay to have graffiti removed from public and private property (Usually Wiltshire Council takes responsibility, with private households having to pay for this themselves). Incidents of graffiti have diminished, with only occasional instances to deal with.

Dog Fouling Speeding Potholes Street lights Anti-social behaviour Parking charges Highways Town centre cleaning Grass cutting Trees and bushes Town Centre Shops Housing Vandalism Litter Graffiti

The Town Council can pass on concerns regarding these issues but has no direct responsibility for them.
