Mayor Cllr Andy Williams, who’s chosen charity for his year in office is The Amesbury and Boscombe Down Link Scheme. Andy kicked off the appeal with a parachute jump. The tandem jump with The Red Devils parachute display team took place on the 5th of July. Andy said this was totally amazing and I can't thank the Red Devils enough for making it so easy.

Andy also said I chose the Link Scheme for all the outstanding work that the volunteers do in the community. The countless trips to hospitals, doctors or shopping, for those less fortunate to be able to take themselves for what ever reasons, is a service that has become very essential. Also the Link Scheme now have the new minibus which can take up to two people in wheelchairs, which is a great asset to the community and I hope any monies raised will help go to the on-going cost of running the service.

To date the jump has raised over £1200 and is a great start to the appeal. Andy would like to thank everybody who has donated and if anybody to wishes to give a donation they can through the Community & Visitors Centre at 2 Flower Court, Flower Lane Amesbury.

Further events are taking part to help raise money for the appeal, with a Mayor’s BBQ and a Gala Dinner later in the year.
