Originally Bonny Mead (beautiful meadow), the park was given to the Town Council for use by the community. This is a popular site, used by both young and old. There is access to the River Avon and to several byways for pleasant walks through the countryside.
The addition of a pavilion gave the facility for use by Amesbury Town Football Club (Amesbury Football Club’s website).
New play equipment was installed for toddlers with a grand opening on 21st October 2007. A skate park and MUGA behind the pavilion provide recreation for older children. With the use of R2 Funds (from smaller developments), 8 pieces of fitness equipment were installed in 2016
Bonnymead Park was designated a Field in Trust site in 2012, just inside the double gate is a plaque to commemorate this title. To find out more about Fields in Trust please view the website - http://www.fieldsintrust.org/
