The Mayor of Amesbury Charity Gala Evening in aid of the Mayor's chosen charity - Amesbury & Boscombe Down Link Scheme on Saturday 14th October 2017.
Mayor of Amesbury, Cllr Andrew Williams and Mayoress Alison Williams, hosted a Charity Gala Evening for 90 guests on Saturday, 14th October 2017 at Antrobus House, Amesbury. The guests, primarily from the community of Amesbury and those from the local business community, enjoyed a delicious 4 course dinner, supplied by JRH Catering, whilst being entertained by the extremely talented violinist Liz Lipscombe and amazed by the tricks of magician Matt Lock. Guests entered into the spirit of the occasion by keenly taking part in the silent auction and raffle, with the additional impromptu auction thrown in. The events was held in aid of the Mayor's Charity of the year, The Amesbury and Boscombe Down Link Scheme. Winston Pyle, representing the scheme, explained to the guests what the service provides to the local community, so they could understand how their generosity would help. He also told them how more volunteer drivers are desperately needed and a few potential new volunteers even came to light on the night.
During the evening a cheque presentation was also made to the Mayor on behalf of the KAD group for over £1400 raised by the group to provide a defibrillator at Archers Gate, which will be installed at the Generous George.
The Gala Evening raised an amazing £2542 for the Amesbury and Boscombe Down Link Scheme and will be added to the total to be presented to the scheme at the end of the Mayoral year. The Mayor and Mayoress would like to thank everyone who attended and all the local businesses and individuals who donated items for the auction and raffle, alongside anyone else who helped in any way towards the evening, without whose generosity the event would not have been such a great success.
