Amesbury offers a variety of sports, run by individual clubs, from football and cricket, to bowls and fishing.

Originally Bonny Mead (beautiful meadow), the park was given to the Town Council for use by the community. This is a popular site, used by both young and old. There is access to the River Avon and to several byways for pleasant walks through the countryside.

The addition of a pavilion gave the facility for use by Amesbury Town Football Club (Amesbury Football Club’s website) and Amesbury Cricket Club (Amesbury Cricket Club’s website).

New play equipment was installed for toddlers with a grand opening on 21st October 2007. A skate park and MUGA behind the pavilion provide recreation for older children.

The new sports pavilion at Archers Gate is set in a sports field that offers football pitches and cricket field.  Enquiries for use of the sports facilities at Archers Gate should be directed to the Facilities Co-ordinator, Joanne Johnston, on 01980 623700 or via email at This email address is being protected from spambots.
